
"Al-Mujeeb: The Name Of Allah Almighty Its Importance And Significance"

Allah Almighty has numerous names mentioned in Quran; every name of His has its own significance and history behind it. For a Muslim, every name of Allah Almighty is reverened and he ought to respect every name and have it equal to the other names of Allah Almighty.
One of the numerous names of Allah Almighty is Al-Mujeeb (The Answerer). There are several mentions of this name of Allah Almighty in different contexts in Quran. While recitation of Quran a reader may come across this name, therefore, one must know its importance and significance.
In Quran, the name can be found in the following verse:
“Ask forgiveness of Him, and turn to Him (in repentance): for my Lord is Near, the Answerer (of prayer).” (Surah Hud: 61)
In this ayah, Allah Almighty calls Himself the Answerer of the prayers; therefore, people who repent to Him and pray to Him are answered by Him.
Another mention of the same name of Allah Almighty is in the context of the incidents of the protection of Noah, Job, and Jonah. Allah Almighty answered the prayer of Noah and saved His ark from the flood, Allah listened and answered to the prayer of Job and granted Him back whatever Allah had taken away from Him. Similarly, Allah Almighty listened to the call of Jonah in the belly of the wale. The ayah regarding the answering of Job is:
“And (remember) Job, when he cried to his Lord “Truly distress has seized me but Thou art the Most Merciful of those that are merciful. So We listened to him: We removed the distress that was on him and We restored his people to him and doubled their number- as a Grace from Ourselves and thing for commemoration, for all who serve Us.” (21:83-84)
In short, the history of the name shows its importance and its significance can be analyzed from the perspective of answering of prayers. A Muslim must never think that Allah Almighty does not listen to his or her prayers; rather Allah Almighty always listens to the prayers of a believer but grants and fulfills the wish of the person according to His Wisdom and at the right time. Thus a person must keep on praying.
