Assalamoalaiykum w rahmatullah w barakatuh !!!!!
I am a Muslim, I don't celebrate New Year. Why?
1. It is not a new year, it is the 3rd month i.e. "Rabi-ul-Awwal" & 1436 Hijri of Islamic new year which Allah the Almighy has given us.
"Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allah [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred. That is the correct religion, so do not wrong yourselves during them. And fight against the disbelievers collectively as they fight against you collectively. And know that Allah is with the righteous [who fear Him]."
[Al-Qur'an 9:36]
2. Approximately 2 and half month ago it was the new year of Islamic calendar, yet I didn't celebrate. Why?
Because Allah says:
"There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and [who] remembers Allah often."
[Al-Qur'an 33:21]
The Messenger of Allah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) found Islamic new year several times in his life but not a single time he celebrated. It means there is nothing to celebrate in a New Year!
