"I am Wala from Iraq living in Canada. I started wearing hijab since I was 9 years old. I was so happy but the first time I wore hijab, I remember my friends acted differently. I was pretty upset. I even started asking myself so many questions which I never asked before. But I didn't give up. As I was growing up, I taught myself to be around good people who will accept and love me for who I am. So, I started going to the mosque. When I went there, I did not only meet wonderful people, I even learned more about the hijab and why it is so important. Modesty is the way to respect beauty. By the way, this is a picture of me reading a poem about equality and freedom."
