She is the Indonesian Cut Nyak Dhien. She organized military operations to hold off the occupation and she fought bravely. The Dutch were unable to capture her, until she aged, lost her sight and was inflicted with terrible pain in her joints, but even then when she was captured she managed to stab one of the soldiers who apprehended her.
She was exiled to a remote Village where the inhabitants spoke a different language, specifically to deter her from rising in power against them again. However the village people wondered why is it that an elderly blind woman has been exiled for political purposes! They attempted to communicate with her and found she had extensive knowledge of the Quran and that her recitation was beautiful, so they appointed her as a teacher of Quran and they started calling her Abo BrBo, meaning queen. When she died in 1908 no one suspected or knew her true origins as their pre-occupation queen. It wasn't until 1960 when the Indonesian government studied documents of arrest that it was discovered that the Queen of Quran had been the Queen of Jihad as well.
