A true friend is the one who advises you when you transgress the limits of Allaah not ignores out of shyness and laughs it off.
A true friend is the one stops the conversation when you backbite others, not the one who encourages you and adds fuel to the fire.
A true friend is the one who takes time away from the social gathering to pray salah not the one you invites you round his house and you miss your salah whilst socialising.
A true friend is the one who invites you to good and helps you in righteousness not the one who assists you in sinning and then flees from you on the day of resurrection.
Allaah says in the Qur'an "Friends on that Day will be enemies to each other except for Al-Mutaqqun (the righteous)".
