"I wear Hijab because I absolutely appreciate the beauty that lies behind wearing it. I wear it because it gives me the freedom to only expose as much of me as I am comfortable with to the outside world. I don’t need to expose my hair or my naked hands or my naked legs or any other part of the body to feel beautiful or to be able to get along with people.
I feel beautiful in the fact that the beauty is safe from ‘anybody’ to see and savour ( for good reasons or bad reasons , equally). It gets me to honor and appreciate the commandments of Allah. I started wearing my hijab when I was in last year of school, and Alhamdulillah been wearing since then, and I absolutely love it.
Initially, though I loved it , but I still could not defend my point/explain to satisfaction when people would ask about it . And I didn’t like it when people would ask in a biased manner and that would affect my response. But , now I only pray for and sympathize with people who have a biased view (that they have an unbiased view – if anything), and respond to them only as beautifully as I would to someone with an unbiased view.
