A believer's Heart is in between Allah’s Fingers !
We many times listen that guidance is truly in the hands of Allah and it is granted to whomever allah(azza wa jal),wills He give. Remember, no one is safe from misguidance. So remember to constantly ask Allah to keep you on the straight path.
Allah said in the Qur’an Surah 8 Verse 24 , "and know that Allah comes in between a person and his heart.”
Allah said in the Qur’an Surah 8 Verse 24 , "and know that Allah comes in between a person and his heart.”
There are several Hadiths that conform with the meaning of this Ayah. For instance,Abdullah b. Amr b. al-’As (radhi Allahu anhu) reported that he heard Allah’s Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) as saying: Verily, the hearts of all the sons of Adam are between the two fingers out of the fingers of the Compassionate Lord as one heart. He turns that to any (direction) He likes. Then Allahs Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: 0 Allah, the Turner of the hearts, turn our hearts to your obedience.
[Saheeh Muslim The book of Destiny Book 33 Hadeeth 6418.
The above mentioned hadeeth is also a warning for those who think that they are on right guidance, that if Allah wills, He can seal the heart from guidance.
Make Du’a for Steadfastness and Uprightness !
So, Oh ! Muslims, Make du’a, for steadfastness, and uprightness in the religion upto the end of one’s life.
Strive to persist in saying du’aa’ and beseech Allah to make you steadfast in adhering to His religion, and to increase you in guidance and strength and righteousness, for this is the state of the believers, as Allah tells us of them in the verse where He says
“(They say): ‘Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower’” [Qur'an Surah Aal ‘Imraan 3:8]

It was narrated that Anas (radhi Allahu anhu) said: The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) often used to say: «يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِك» (Yaa Muqallibal Quloob Thabbit Qalbee ‘alaa Deenik) “O Turner of the hearts, make my heart steadfast in adhering to Your religion.”
[Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (2140) , Sunan Ibn Majah,
3834.
The Prophet (sallahAllaahu alayhi wasallam) used to often say these words, “O You Who changes the hearts, make my heart firm on Your religion.” We (companions) said, `O Allah’s Messenger! We believed in you and in what you brought us. Are you afraid for us’ He said, Yes, for the hearts are between two of Allah’s Fingers, He changes them (as He wills)”
[Sunan Ibn Majah, Book of Du'a Hadeeth 3834]
Indeed the Prophet (sallahAllaahu alayhi wasallam) used to do so, and taught us to do so, as in the hadeeth of Umm Salamah by Shihr who said : ‘I said to Umm Salamah : ‘O Mother of the Believers, what is the duaa’ which the Prophet (sallahAllaahu alayhi wasallam) would supplicate the most while in your presence? ’
So she said : ‘The frequent supplication of his was :
يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِى عَلَى دِينِكَ (Yaa Muqallibal Quloob Thabbit Qalbee ‘alaa Deenik )
“O, Turner of the hearts, make my heart firm on Your religion.”She said: ‘So I said: “O Messenger of Allah, why do you supplicate so frequently: ‘O Changer of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion.’ He said: ‘O Umm Salamah! Verily, there is no human being except that his heart is between Two Fingers of the Fingers of Allah, so whomsoever He wills He makes steadfast, and whomever He wills He causes to deviate.’”
