RAMADAN PREPARATION GUIDE: DAILY RECITING QUR'AAN

Photo: RAMADAN PREPARATION GUIDE: DAILY RECITING QUR'AAN

The Qur’aan is the specialty of Ramadan. In every other month, Jibreel would revise the Qur’aan with Rasool Allah (Salla Allahu ‘aleihi wa sallam) once but in the Ramadan, Jibreel would come TWICE. [Sahih Al Bukhari, English Translation, Volume 6, hadith #485]

The Qur’aan is the literal words of Allah and in it is guidance for mankind. What a great loss for the person who does not make an effort to understand the Qur’aan and benefit from it.

Reciting alif, laam, mim gets thirty rewards in other months but the reward is 70 times more in Ramadan = 2100 good deeds! What is the reward of reciting one juz (para) of the Qur’aan? Approximately 7,000 letters which = 4,900,000 rewards!!! And each reward from the Owner of the Universe is better than the WORLD and everything in it. [Sahih Al Bukhari, hadeeth no. 2796]

We also need to understand the Qur’aan so it is important that we read the translation and try to understand it, starting today. We can recite some Qur’aan for five minutes after every salah using smartphones, if that is easier.

Or, we can set aside five to ten minutes every day, and ring fence it, such that no matter what happens, we must finish whatever work before that time, and continue working only after having recited the Qur’aan.

We end with this hadith of Rasool Allah (Salla Allahu ‘aleihi wa sallam):

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (Salla Allahu ‘aleihi wa sallam) said: Jibreel said to me – “ May Allah rub that persons nose in the dirt (a sign of extreme humiliation), in whose life Ramadan comes and his sins are not forgiven,' and I said, Ameen'. [Narrated by Ibn Khuzaymah, 1888; al-Tirmidhi, 3545; Ahmad, 7444; Ibn Hibbaan, 908. See Saheeh al-Jaami', 3501.]

May Allah make this Ramadan the BEST Ramadan of our lives.
