IS IT COMPULSORY TO PRAY ALL THE FARD PRAYERS IN THE MASJID? PART II
VERSE #2: He (Mighty and Glorious is He) also says in Surah Al Qalam, verse 42-43:
(Remember) the Day when the Shin shall be laid bare (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) and they shall be called to prostrate themselves (to Allâh), but they (hypocrites) shall not be able to do so.
Their eyes will be cast down and ignominy will cover them; they used to be called to prostrate themselves (offer prayers), while they were healthy and good (in the life of the world, but they did not).
In this verse, Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta'ala) talks about the punishment for the hypocrites, and mentions that the reason for their punishment is not that they didn’t pray, but rather because “they used to be CALLED to prostrate”, but they did not answer the call of the mu’adhdhin, i.e., they did not go to the masjid to pray.
In sha’Allah, we will see below that the understanding of the sahabah was that any person who deliberately misses the congregation in the masjid was most likely a hypocrite.
Verse #3: SURAH BAQARAH, VERSE 43
And perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and give Zakât, and bow down (or submit yourselves with obedience to Allâh) along with Ar¬Raki'ûn.
There are two things to note in this verse. Firstly, the fi’l amr (commandment) Aqeem (establish). The second is the commandment to bow with those who bow - ‘irka:u.
This tells that that a condition for the establishment of salah is to pray in jama’:, in the masjid. [technically speaking, the “in the masjid” part is not directly deducible from this verse, but other evidences, provided below, will in sha’ Allah make things clearer]](https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/t1.0-9/s526x395/10416594_1448186395431680_5723692334518411180_n.jpg)
