Zakat-ul Fitr – Sadaqa fitr:-

Zakat-ul Fitr – Sadaqa fitr:-
*******************************
Zakat ul Fitr is an obligatory charity on every young and old; male and female; free and slave Muslim towards the end of the month of Ramadan. It is an addition to the annual Zakat also called as Sadaqa al Fitr. Its prominence is such that it is the hallmark of Eid and aptly named as Eid ul Fitr. It amounts to the value equivalent to feed a person for one day. Ibn Umar said: “The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) enjoined the payment of one Sa’a of dates or one Sa’a of barley as Zakat al-Fitr on every Muslim, young and old, male and female, free and slave.” (Sahhih Bukhari and Muslim)
( Bukhari Book 5, Number 2160:
Abdullah b 'Umar reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) ordered the payment of Sadaqat-ul-Fitr before people go out for prayer.)
(The fast of Ramadan remains suspended between the sky and the earth. It goes up when sadaqa al-fitr is given.) [Abu Hafs]
(Sadaqa al-fitr purifies a fasting person from the sins that he incurred because of his obnoxious utterances.) [Bayhaqi]
(Sadaqa al-fitr is a means of purification for your rich ones. If your poor ones also give it, Allahu ta'ala grants them a lot more than what they have given.) [Abu Dawud]
It is recommended that the Sadaqa Al-Fitr be given as an amount of non-perishable staple food, not cash. The purpose of this charitable donation is to ensure that all members of the community have food to eat after Ramadan and during the Eid holiday. The recommended foods may vary according to local diet, but traditionally include ,Flour/Wheat ..
