Taking Riba ( Interest ), an act of Disaster

Taking Riba ( Interest ), an act of Disaster.

Bismillah Ar Rahmaan Ar Raheem

Allah(subhanahu wa ta'ala) said in Quran regarding RIBA/INTEREST at various places and forbidden 'RIBA' completely,"Those who eat Riba (usury) will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except like the standing of a person beaten by Shaitan (Satan) leading him to insanity. T

Surah Al Baqarah 2:275-276

"Those who devour usury will Not stand except as stands one whom the evil one by his touch hath driven to madness, that is because they say: "Trade is like usury, " But ALLAH hath permitted trade and forbidden usury. Those who after receiving direction from their Lord, Desist, shall be pardoned for the past; their case is for ALLAH (to judge); but those who repeat (The offence) are Companions of the Fire; they will abide therein (forever)."
[Holy Quran 2:275]

"ALLAH will deprive ( Remove) usury of all blessing , but will give increase for deeds of charity; for He loveth not creatures ungrateful and wicked. "
[Holy Quran 2:276]

Those who devour usury will not stand except as stands one whom the evil one by his touch hath driven to madness, that is because they say :
" Trade is like usury, But ALLAH hath permitted trade and Forbidden usury.

Usury is condemned and prohibited in the strongest possible terms. There can be no question about the prohibition. An apt simile; whereas legitimate trade or industry increases the prosperity and stability of men and nations, a dependence of usury would merely encourage a race of idlers, cruel blood-suckers and worthless fellows who do Not know their own good and therefore akin to madness. Owing to the fact that interest occupies a central position in modern economic life and specially since interest is the very life blood of the existing financial institutions, a number of Muslims have been inclined to interpret it in a manner which is radically different from the understanding of Muslim scholars throughout the last fourteen centuries and is also sharply in conflict with the categorical statements of the Prophet (Peace be upon him). According to Islamic teachings any excess on the capital is Riba (interest). Islam accept no distinction, insofar as prohibition is concerned, between reasonable and exorbitant rates of interest, and thus what came to be regarded as the difference between usury and interest; nor between returns on bonus for consumption and those for production purposes and so on.

“O ye who believe! Fear Allah, and give up what remains of your demand for usury, if ye are indeed believers.
If ye do it not, Take notice of war from Allah and His Messenger: But if ye turn back, ye shall have your capital sums: Deal not unjustly, and ye shall not be dealt with unjustly.”
[Holy Quran 2:278,279]

O Believers, fear Allah and give up that interest which is still due to you, if you are true Believers; but if you do not do so, then you are warned of the declaration of war against you by Allah and His Messenger. If, however, you repent even now (and forego interest), you are entitled to your principal; do no wrong, and no wrong will be done to you.

" O ye who Believe! Devour not Usury, doubled and multiplied; but fear ALLAH; that ye may (really) prosper. "
[Surah Ali Imran 3:130]

The last verse spoke of Forgiveness, even to enemies. If such Mercy is granted by ALLAH (Subhana Wa Ta'la)to erring sinners, how much more is it incumbent on us, poor sinners to refrain from oppressing our fellow-being in need, in matters of mere material and ephemeral wealth? Usury is the opposite extreme of charity, unselfishness, striving and giving of ourselves in the service of ALLAH (Subhana Wa Ta'la)and of our fellow men. Real prosperity consists, not in greed but in giving-the giving of ourselves and of our substance in the cause of ALLAH and ALLAH's truth and in the service of ALLAH's crearures.

It is narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas'ud(radhi Allahu anhu):
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) cursed the one who ACCEPTED USURY(riba/interest), the one who PAID it, the WITNESS to it, and the one who RECORDED it.
