Alcohol Is Mother of All Evils ...............

'Alcohol Is Mother of All Evils ...............

It is stated in the Qur’ân: “They ask you regarding wine and gambling. Say, in both of them is major sin, and there is some benefit for men, but the sin of them is far greater than benefit ”
(Surah Baqarah)
Intoxicants were forbidden in the Qur'an through several separate verses revealed at different times over a period of years. At first, it was forbidden for Muslims to attend to prayers while intoxicated (4:43). Then a later verse was revealed which said that alcohol contains some good and some evil, but the evil is greater than the good (2:219). This was the next step in turning people away from consumption of it. Finally, "intoxicants and games of chance" were called "abominations of Satan's handiwork," intended to turn people away from God and forget about prayer, and Muslims were ordered to abstain (5:90-91).
Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be to him) said, “Do not drink wine, for it is the key to all evils.” (Ibn Majah).
Alcohol has been the scourge of human society since time immemorial. It continues to cost countless human lives, and causes terrible misery to millions throughout the world. Alcohol is the root cause of several problems facing society. The statistics of soaring crimes rates, increasing instances of mental illnesses and millions broken homes bear mute testimony to the destructive power of alcohol.
Hence Allah (SWT) in Qur'an has said.
"O you who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, Stones and (divination by)arrows, are an abomination-of Satan's handiwork; eschew such (abomination),that you may prosper"
[5:90

Alcohol leads to many harmful things, and deserves to be called “the mother of all evils”, as it was described by Prophet Muhammad, “Alcohol is the mother of all evils.” (Nasai). Prophet Muhammad referred to alcohol as the mother of sins because after consuming it, man can indulge in other major sins. The Encyclopaedia Britannica states that most cases of sexual assault against relatives such as sisters, mothers and daughters happen under the influence of alcohol.

People generally are quite well acquainted with what benefits are attributed to alcohol, for instance enjoyment of temporary happiness, increase in strength for a short time; colour becomes clearer, etc. based on some medical claim. But on the other hand the risks and harms are so varied that, perhaps so many disadvantages may not be present in any other product.

May Allah guide us To the right path and May Allah save us from all evils..... Ameen'
