Its perfectly excusable to blindly follow if you live in the middle of a jungle, on an island, in the desert or a village and haven't got the abilities to read & write.
If your reading this status then your really not from the jungle!
As for the people who got the abilities to read and write shouldn't really blindly follow and should always question their sheikhs and imams.
The sufis & blind hanafi fanatics insist and make it obligatory for people to blindly follow a madhab and their sufi sheikhs, they want people to remain jahils & ignorant towards their religion.
We are no scholars or muftis but if Allah's given you the ability then we should seek knowledge as it's an obligation upon every one of us unless of course if you live isolated in a cave.
All the hard work has been done by many scholars who have written volumes of commentaries and tafsirs of Quran and hadiths.
We can spend time on worldly matters but how much time do we really give in gaining knowledge?

So whenever I voice my opinion, or formulate a principle, where something contrary to my view exists on the authority of the Messenger of Allah (saaws), then the correct view is what the Messenger of Allah (saaws) has said, and it is my view."
