
The Messenger (‘alaihi salaatu wassalaam) would say in his sermons the following:
“The most wicked of all affairs are the newly introduced affairs [into Islaam], and every newly invented matter is an innovation, and every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire.”
Abu Hurairah (radiyallaahu ‘anhu) said that Allaah’s Messenger (salallaahu ‘alaihi wassallam) said:
“There will appear people at the end of [the time of] my Ummah who will narrate to you things that neither you or your forefathers have heard, so beware of them, and keep away from them.”

Mujaahid bin Jabar (d. 104H) said:
“Do not sit with the People of Desires for they have a contagious disease like the disease of scabies.”

“Do not sit with a person of bid’ah for he will disease your heart, and do not sit with one put to trial [with deviation] for he will prompt you with his evidences.”
