Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
"When a person dies, his deeds are cut off except for three-
1. Continous charity
2. Knowledge that others benefited from
3. Righteous children who supplicate for him
Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan mentions that he heard Shaykh Muhammad bin Ibraheem during a lecture say that the charity may discontinue due to wealth depleting and not being able to sustain the form of charity whatever it may be and for other possible reasons and that their children may die themselves and no longer supplicate for them but as for knowledge that others benefitted from then that will continue to benefit as long as the people who benefitted from it act upon it and they convey the same to others. This is one of the reasons why knowledge is superior to other deeds.
