It is very strange you see that the those who supplicate to other than Allaah today are similar to if not worse than the mushrikeen of the of the past.
Some of the mushrikeen who came before commited shirk during times of ease but made their worship purely for Allaah alone during times of hardship.
Allaah the most high says
“And when they embark on a ship they invoke Allaah making their faith pure for Him only, but when He brings them safely to land, behold, they give a share of their worship to others.”
[al-Ankaboot (29):65]
However, the shirk of the people of our time is continuous, during times of ease and difficulty they go to the shrine or the peer and call upon the saints and Prophets during times of hardship and happiness.
