Ibn Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) narrates one day the messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم took him by the shoulders and said to him.
“Be in this world as if you are a stranger or a wayfarer”
Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen comments
"The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم took Ibn Umar by his shoulders in order to attract his attention.
The wayfarer is the one who passes by a land while travelling by foot. And he does not take that land as being a lasting residence, because he is a traveller”
