Hamdi from Somalia

"I was born and raised in a Muslim household. I started wearing the hijab when I was fairly young.
In the Western world, the hijab has come to symbolize either forced silence or radical, unconscionable militancy. Actually, it's neither. It is simply a woman's assertion that judgment of her physical appearance is to play no role whatsoever in social interaction.
I encourage you, my Muslim sisters who mean the world to me to start wearing the Hijab if you didn't alread. If you have trouble wearing the Hijab, make dua (pray) and ask Allah to help you wear it! Wish you all the very best." -Hamdi from Somalia
