Hasan al-Basri, born in the year 21 AH (642 CE) under the Caliphate of Umar ibn al-Khattab, was from the generation of the Tabi'een, those who saw the companions (Sahabah) but not the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him. If this is what he said to the second (best) generation of Muslims, what would he say about us today?
