Tahajjud Prayer

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “When half the night or one third of the night passes, Allah proclaims: “Is there anyone who begs from me so I may grant him? Is there anybody who makes Dua to me so that his Dua will be accepted? Is there anyone seeking forgiveness so that he may be pardoned?” This proclamation continues till the dawn of Fajr.” [Sahih Muslim]

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) was asked: “Which Dua is most accepted?” He replied: “The Dua made in the last part of the night and the Dua made after the obligatory prayers.” [Sunan al-Tirmidhi]

The method of performing Tahajjud prayer is the same as performing any other prayer. One may perform two Rakaat (units) or more and make Dua sincerely. One should keep in mind that the Duas are accepted at Tahajjud time.

The most virtuous time for Tahajjud prayer is towards the last part of the night (i.e. before dawn)
