RIYYA Hidden shirk……………..Showing off
Dear readers you all very well know that Riyaa or show off is the most disliked act and attitude in Islam. It is as if someone is deceiving himself and his Lord to please people and not his Lord.It is sometimes quite difficult to overcome this hidden shirk…
Riyya means “eye-service, hypocrisy, dissimulation.” From the Shari’ah point of view, it means “to perform acts which are pleasing to Allah with the intention of pleasing other than Allah.” Thus, righteous deeds done for worldly gain have been transformed into evil deeds unacceptable to Allah. Riya’ is one of the most powerful of such factors and its subtleness makes it among the most dangerous and difficult to diagnose.
It is very much dislike by the Allah and His messenger [pbuh] ….
AR-RIYAA’ IS A MINOR SHIRK, BUT A MAJOR SIN: IT IS FROM THE SIGNS OF HYPOCRISY .. AS THE HYPOCRITES DO:
.
It is Shirk to perform a righteous deed for worldly reasons:…We always try to do righteous deeds to seek the pleasure of Allah alone with no associate or partner. These are the two basic features of acceptable deeds: their intent is for the sake of Allah alone, and are done in accordance with the way of the Messenger of Allah….
Riya is of many types and forms, its nature and tendency is that it invalidates the actions as stated in the Book and the sunnah. Allah, the Most High, says:
"Like those who spend from their wealth to be seen by men, and they do not believe in Allah and the Last Day. Their example is like the example of a hard rock on which is a little soil, then on it falls heavy rain which flows off it and they will not be able to do anything with whatever they have earned and Allah does not guide the disbelieving people."[Al-Qur'an 2:264]
The Prophet, sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said:
"What I fear for you the most is the minor shirk, that is ar-riya. Allah will say on the Day of Judgement when He is rewarding the people for their actions: Go to those for whom you did riya for in the world then see if you find the reward with them."[Related by Ahmad (5/428, 429)
May Allah save us all from all sorts of riyaa-[hidden shirk] because It is from the signs of hypocrisy: …..We must do our best to hide our good deeds to the best of our ability:
O Allah, forgive us and save us from all future sins minor and major both including riyaa, backbiting, slandering and make us completely sincere to you so that we may act only to please you and save us from the torment of Hell,
"Allahumma inni a`udhu bika an ushrika bika wa ana a`lamu wa astaghfiruka lima la a`lamu"
[O Allah I seek refuge in You from knowingly associating partners with You, and I seek Your forgiveness for that which I do not know]…… Aameeen ya Rab](https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xap1/t1.0-9/p526x296/10447655_817650131591987_2745236371932906666_n.jpg)
