Quran instructs men to beat disobedient wives, a Grace or disgrace !?

Quran instructs men to beat disobedient wives, a Grace or disgrace !?
-Teresa Mohammed Altao

Let us begin with the Hadeeth of beloved prophet Mohammed (PBUH) which is widely misquoted by Kuffar.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet said: "I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful." It was asked, "Do they disbelieve in Allah?" (or are they ungrateful to Allah?) He replied, "They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favours and the good (charitable deeds) done to them. If you have always been good (benevolent) to one of them and then she sees something in you (not of her liking), she will say, 'I have never received any good from you."
[Sahih Bukhari volume 1, book 2, number 28]

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem.

"Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because ALLAH has given the one more (strength)than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the Righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what ALLAH would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last)beat them (lightly); But if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance): for ALLAH is Most High, Great (above you all)."
[Surah Al-Nisa 4:34]

Indeed, the Righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard and protects (the husbands interest)in his absence, as ALLAH (Subhana Wa Ta'la)has protected them. " or the sentence may be rendered: If we take the rendering as in the text, the meaning is, "the good wife is obedient and harmonious in her husband's presence, and in his absence". Guards his reputation and property and her own virtue, as ordained by ALLAH (Subhana Wa Ta'la). If we take the rendering as in the note, we reach the same result in a different way: the good wife, in her husband’s absence, remembering how ALLAH (Subhana Wa Ta'la) has given her a sheltered position, does everything to justify that position by guarding her own virtue and his reputation and property.

*As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct*

In case of family jars four steps are mentioned, to be taken in that order:(1) perhaps verbal advice or admonition may be sufficient; (2) if not, sex relations may be suspended; (3) if this is not sufficient, some slight physical correction may be administered; (4) if all this fails, a family council is recommended in Surah 4:35 below.

"If ye fear a breach between them twain, appoint (two) arbiters, one from his family, and the other from hers; if they wish for peace, ALLAH will cause their reconciliation: For ALLAH hath full knowledge, and is acquainted with all things. "
[Surah al Nisa 4:35]

So which means an excellent plan for settling family disputes, without too much publicity or mud-throwing, or resort to the chicaneries of the law. It is a pity that Muslims do not resort to it universally, as they should. The arbiters from each family would know the idiosyncrasies of both parties, and would be able, which ALLAH's help to effect a real reconciliation.

*Seek not against them means (of annoyance)*

Temper, nagging, sarcasm, speaking at each other in other people's presence, reverting to past faults which should be forgiven and forgotten-all this is Forbidden. And the reason given is characteristic of Islam.

You must live all your life as in the presence of ALLAH (Subhana Wa Ta'la), Who is High above us, but Who watches over us. How petty and contemptible will our little squabble appear in His presence!

In the light of Quran and Hadeeth, it really makes me feel that Allah loves Muslim woman a lot and want to correct her in Duniya (in this world ) to avoid her enter to Hell fire in the life after death !! Allah helped Muslim women by showing prophet (PBUH) hell in advance!!!

Before saying Allah Hafiz, I would like to bring your attention to the following verses of Quran in which Allah clearely decrees the equality of woman to men in creation and in each others personnel affair !!!

“O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah , through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.”
(Holy Quran, 4 : 1)

“ ….They are your garments and ye are their garments…..”
(Holy Quran, 2 : 187)

Subhana ALLAH!
