Lessons from the Farewell Sermon of Prophet Muhammad ṣallā Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam.....!!!
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) gave his famous Farewell Sermon (Khuṭbatu l-Widā) on 9th of Dhul Hijjah. He (s.a.w.w) passed away 3 months later. The khutbah was attended by over 115,000 sahaba.
“ O people!! Lend me an attentive ear, for I don’t know whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again…”
- The life & property of every muslim is a sacred trust
- Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you
- Take full accountability for actions & Allah will also hold you accountable
- Dealing with interest & usury is prohibited.
- Be careful of obeying satan in small matters
- Men have rights over women & women have rights over men
- Treat women kindly, they are your partners & committed helpers
- Women must guard their modesty & chastity
- Worship Allah by performing the prescribed prayers, fasting in Ramadan, giving charity, & performing hajj
- Muslims are brothers to one another
- Superiority of one over another is only by piety and good action, not race or color
- No new prophet or religion will come after this
- Follow the quran & sunnah and you will never go astray.
- It is now your duty to pass on this message to the rest of humanity
