Importance of Muharram

Assalamualaykom.
Do you still have some days to make up from last Ramadaan and would like to fast the day of Ashoora?
Please Read this....
Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymeen(RadiAllahu Anhu)said in Fataawa as-Siyaam (438):
If a person fasts the day of 'Arafah or the day of 'Ashoora', and he still owes fasts from Ramadan, his fast will be valid, but if he intended to fast that day to make up for a missed Ramadan fast,he will have two rewards the reward of the day of 'Arafah or the day of 'Ashoora, and the reward for making up the missed fast. This applies to voluntary fasts in general, that have nothing to do with Ramadan.
Question:
So just to be clear the Six fasts for Shawaal can we make up for missed fasts in Ramadan as well as the reward for fasting Shawaal?
Answer:
No if a sister want to earn the reward mentioned in the hadeeth of the Prophet(SalAllahu Alayhi WaSalam),
"Whoever fasts Ramadan then follows it with six days of Shawaal, it will be as he fasted for a lifetime. "
(Reported by Muslim, no. 1984),
Then she should complete her Ramadan fasts first, then follow it with six days of Shawaal, so that the hadeeth will be applicable to her too,and she will gain the reward mentioned in it.
(Jazak Allah sister Ukht Sauda for introducing this article.)
May Allah the Almighty provide us ways to follow the Quran and Sunnah and bestow for us his abundant love, Ameen.
JazakAllah KHAIR.
