The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.”

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said,
“…and the one who sets out on a path to seek knowledge; Allah will make the path to paradise easy for him…”

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said,
“Whoever sets out on a path to seek knowledge therein, Allah will make a path for him in paradise through that knowledge and the angels will lower their wings for the student of knowledge out of Allah’s [good pleasure over them]."

Imam al-Khatib al-Baghdadi reports from the great Imam Sufyan Ibn `Uyayna, the following statement:
“Do you know the example about knowledge and ignorance?
[He said]: it is like the example of Dar al-Kufr with Dar al-Islam.
If the people of Islam abandon Jihad, then the people of non-belief will overcome Islam.
So, if knowledge is abandoned, people will fall into utter ignorance.”
[Al-Khatib Al-Baghdadi, Al-Faqih Wa'l-Mutafaqqih, 1/35]
