Samia from Egypt

"I started to wear Hijab 10 years ago at college but I have to say that was my second time because I did once before but I took it off. In Egypt, most of girls start to wear Hijab in high school. It's sort of tradition, not because they became more believer or because they want to get closer to Allah. I have to say that was my big mistake. When I remember doing that, I feel ashamed because I was wearing HIjab but I didn't act or deal as a good Muslim. I can say I didn't respect my Hijab as I started to open the door without hijab, look from the window without hijab. So, I took it off.
But thanks to God foremost and my best friend for making the decision easier. My best friend and I are similar at everything. One day I met her and she was wearing Hijab. I felt so jealous of her and I started to questioned myself. We're just like twins because we have similar thoughts but she became closer to Allah than me? That hit me and the next day, I wore Hijab and never took it off. Also, I started to gain more knowledge about Islam. I always thank my best friend for the best gift."-Samia from Egypt
