WHO MUST GREET FIRST !!!

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, 'A rider should greet a pedestrian; a pedestrian should greet one who is sitting; and a small group should greet a large group (of people).'' [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]. The narration in Al-Bukhari adds: Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "The young should greet the elderly.

Riyad us Saliheen (The Book of Greetings - 857)

Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "The young person greets the old person, the person walking greets the person sitting down, and the small group greets the large group.

Al-Adab Al-Mufrad ( Greeting - 1001)

Narrated Abu Ayyub Ansiri reported Allah's Messenger (pbuh) as saying, It is not permissible for a Muslim to have estranged relations with his brother beyond three nights, the one turning one way and the other turning the other way when they meet; the better of the two is one who is the first to give a greeting.

Sahih Muslim (The Book of Virtue, Enjoining Good Manners, and Joining of the Ties of Kinship - 31)

Narrated Abdullah bin 'Amr, A person asked Allah's Messenger (pbuh) . "What (sort of) deeds in or (what qualities of) Islam are good?" He replied, "To feed (the poor) and greet those whom you know and those whom you don't know.
