HENCE THE REASON WHY WE HAVE A LOT OF CONFUSED MUSLIMS, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO THE ISSUE OF SECTS
The first thing that a person should busy himself with and place great importance in, the Aqeedah and Tawḥeed.
A person strengthens himself in the knowledge of Aqeedah and Tawḥeed. This is so he will not be knocked down, or shaken by the affairs that come to him, nor will he be affected by the different desires that appear in his time, rather he will be firm and strong upon that Aqeedah and have clarity in the affairs that may cause strife and turmoil. He advised to spend time reading the books of Aqeedah of Ahl al-Sunnah, to be plentiful in reading and pondering over them and reflecting over the issues that they pose. This is so that doubts do not come to him from the people of desires. If a person does not have a strong basis in Aqeedah and is not firm, then two affairs are feared for him:
1) He himself can become deviated
2) He may try to make refutations against the people of deviation but not have enough knowledge to defend the truth and then end up being from them or being the defenders of them.
