Why a lot of people are troubled? Why a lot of people are depressed?
In United States, one in each ten Americans reported depression.
Because they have not experienced the state of 'AMN', the state of serenity, the state of tranquillity, the state of peace...
Why?
Because they did not make peace with their Creator. This is why! 'You're saying 'no' to the Creator.'
You tell them to Salee (pray), they say: No!
(Some of them even said: There is no Creator, to begin with!)
You tell them to give zakah, they will say: 'No, there is no zakah'.
You tell them go for Hajj, They will say, 'No, there's no hajj!'
You tell them wear hijab , they will 'No! I'm not going to wear hijab.'
You tell them drinking is haraam, they will say: 'No, I'm going to drink!'
He's at war with His Creator!
وَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَن ذِكْرِي فَإِنَّ لَهُ مَعِيشَةً ضَنكًا وَنَحْشُرُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَعْمَىٰ
"But whosoever turns away from My Reminder (i.e. neither believes in this Quran nor acts on its orders, etc.) verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection." [Qur'ān 20:124]
Whoever turns away from the Remembrance of Allah he will have a miserable life because he'll be vulnerable. He will be anxious all the time.
الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَلَمْ يَلْبِسُواْ إِيمَانَهُم بِظُلْمٍ أُوْلَـئِكَ لَهُمُ الأَمْنُ وَهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ {82
It is those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah and worship none but Him Alone) and confuse not their belief with Zulm (wrong i.e. by worshipping others besides Allah), for them (only) there is security and they are the guided. [Qur'ān 6:82]
Imân [faith] comes from the Arabic root amana, whose original linguistic meaning signifies calmness of the soul and freedom from fear. It also means safety and security, which result from a sound relationship with Allah.
This is the beauty of Imân [faith].
Imân is the solution to a lot of our problems.
