PLUCKING OF THE GREY HAIR

'** PLUCKING OF THE GREY HAIR **

Never pluck or cut the grey/white hair. And keep dying the hair with Henna (It's Sunnah) or with any other natural dyes that is not of black color. Each and everything that ALLAH (subhanahu wa ta'ala) has provided us, has it's own benefits, which could only be understood by the knowledgeable one.

The grey or white hair is given to a believer as a reminder of death, it would remind him/her that they are close to death and would eventually make them to perform more good deeds and prohibit bad deeds.

'Amr b. Shu'aib, on his father's authority, told that his grandfather reported the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said:

"Do not pluck out grey hair. If any believer grows a grey hair in Islam, he will have light on the Day of Resurrection. (This is Sufyan's version). Yahya's version says: Allah will record on his behalf a good deed for it, and will blot out a sin for it."

— [Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith No. 4202]

And the white or grey hairs must never be left un-dyed. Because it’s like imitating the Non-Muslims. Hence, one must dye his/ her hair with henna or any other dye which is not black.

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu Anhu) :

The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) as saying: Jews and Christians do not dye (their beards), so act differently from them.

— [Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith No. 4203]

Those who use black dye, would not smell the fragrance of Paradise (Jannah).

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Abbas (radiAllahu Anhu) :

The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: "At the end of time there will be people who will use this black dye like the crops of doves who will not experience the fragrance of Paradise."

— [Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith No. 4212]

Narrated by AbuDharr (radiAllahu Anhu) :

The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: "The best things with which grey hair are changed are henna and katam."

— [Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith No. 4205]

(Katam is a plant from Yemen which produces a reddish-black dye. Henna produces a red dye, so when they are used together as a dye, they produce a colour that is between black and red).
