A thirty three year lesson

One day a scholar asked his student, “how long have you been learning from me”,

The student replied 33 years,

What have you learned from me the scholar then asked…

8 subjects i have learned… the student answered

Subhanallah, all these years of being in my company and you have only learnt 8 subjects… the scholar surprisingly said

My teacher i have never learnt anything except these matters, I cannot lie.

The scholar asked then what are these 8 subjects that you have learnt from me.

Replying the student said,

These subjects are as follow
===========================
1 First subject :
===========================
Looking at the people around me i realised each one loved someone, but when the loved one dies, they are lost forever,

Therefore I learned a lesson from that, and made sure that the love of my life would be my good deeds so that when i die it will remain with me and never be separated.

2 Second subject:
===========================
I looked at what Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said in
the Glorious Quran surat An-Naziat 79:40
===========================
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوَى
===========================
79:40 And for such as had entertained the fear of standing before their Lord's (tribunal) and had restrained (their) soul from lower desires,
===========================
Therefore I learned a lesson from that and have done my best to restrain myself from committing any evil, and I kept myself strictly in the obedience of Allah.

3 Third subject :
===========================
When I Observed the people I found that each one has a valuable thing he keeps in a safe place for fear of being lost,

Then I remembered the words of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in
===========================
The Glorious Quran Surah An-Nahl [16:96]
===========================
مَا عِندَكُمْ يَنفَدُ وَمَا عِندَ اللّهِ بَاقٍ وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّ الَّذِينَ صَبَرُواْ أَجْرَهُم بِأَحْسَنِ مَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ

16:96 What is with you must vanish: what is with Allah will endure. And We will certainly bestow, on those who patiently persevere, their reward according to the best of their actions.
===========================

Therefore I learned a lesson from that and whenever something valuable falls into my hands I donated this for the sake of Allah and in return Allah will keep this safe for me until Judgement day.

4 Forth subject :
===========================
I observed the people and I have found that each one of them flaunted their money and their ancestors

Then I remembered the words of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in

The Glorious Quran Surah Al-Hujurat [49:13]
===========================
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاكُم مِّن ذَكَرٍ وَأُنثَى وَجَعَلْنَاكُمْ شُعُوبًا وَقَبَائِلَ لِتَعَارَفُوا إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِندَ اللَّهِ أَتْقَاكُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌ

49:13 O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).

Therefore I learned a lesson from that, so I done my best to be pious and be honorable in the sight of Allah..

5 Fifth subject :
===========================

I observed the people and I have found that they are accusing, and cursing one another and I realised this is all due to envy

Then I remembered the words of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in
===========================
The Glorious Quran Surah Az-Zukhruf [43:32]
===========================
أَهُمْ يَقْسِمُونَ رَحْمَةَ رَبِّكَ نَحْنُ قَسَمْنَا بَيْنَهُم مَّعِيشَتَهُمْ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَرَفَعْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ فَوْقَ بَعْضٍ دَرَجَاتٍ لِيَتَّخِذَ بَعْضُهُم بَعْضًا سُخْرِيًّا وَرَحْمَتُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ

43:32 Is it they who would portion out the Mercy of thy Lord? It is We Who portion out between them their livelihood in the life of this world: and We raise some of them above others in ranks, so that some may command work from others. But the Mercy of thy Lord is better than the (wealth) which they amass.
===========================

Therefore I learned a lesson from that, and I shunned envy and envious people from my life as I knew then that Allah divided the sustenance between his creation.

6 sixth subject :
===========================

I observed the people and I have found that they are hostile to one another, and oppressing and fighting one another

Then I remembered the words of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in
===========================
The Glorious Quran Surah Fatir [35:6]
===========================
إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ فَاتَّخِذُوهُ عَدُوًّا إِنَّمَا يَدْعُو حِزْبَهُ لِيَكُونُوا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ السَّعِيرِ
===========================
35:6 Verily Satan is an enemy to you: so treat him as an enemy. He only invites his adherents, that they may become Companions of the Blazing Fire.
===========================

Therefore I learned a lesson from that, and i shun any animosity to the people and devote all the enmity to the shaytaan (devil )

7 Seventh subject :
===========================

I observed the people and I have found that each one of them nearly killing themselves in order to earn a living to the level he or she didn’t care if his o her sustenance came from Halal or Haram means .

Then I remembered the words of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in
===========================
The Glorious Quran Surah Hud [11:6]
===========================
وَمَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ فِي الأَرْضِ إِلاَّ عَلَى اللّهِ رِزْقُهَا وَيَعْلَمُ مُسْتَقَرَّهَا وَمُسْتَوْدَعَهَا كُلٌّ فِي كِتَابٍ مُّبِينٍ

11:6 There is no moving creature on earth but its sustenance dependeth on Allah.

He knoweth the time and place of its definite abode and its temporary deposit: All is in a clear Record.

===========================

Therefore I learned a lesson from that, as I knew then that I am one of Allah's creations and he secured my sustenance for me .

Therefore I busied myself from what Allah commanded me to do,

knowing that Allah will provide my sustenance if I follow his law on earth,

8 Eighth subject :
===========================

I observed the people and I have found that each one depends on another means of sustenance, one depending on wealth, another depending on property, another health and another his status..

Then I remembered the words of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in
===========================
The Glorious Quran Surah At-Talaq [65:3]
===========================
وَيَرْزُقْهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَحْتَسِبُ وَمَن يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بَالِغُ أَمْرِهِ قَدْ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدْرًا

65:3 And He provides for him from (sources) he never could imagine. And if any one puts his trust in Allah, sufficient is ((Allah)) for him. For Allah will surely accomplish his purpose: verily, for all things has Allah appointed a due proportion.

Therefore I learned a lesson from that, so I shunned dependency on any human being and put my trust only in Allah,

When the scholar heard the 8 subjects from his student, he said
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala bless and reward you with the best reward in this life and the hereafter .
