Are we going to enslave our nafs to Allāh ?
Or are we going to let that nafs follow anything that it wants to follow?
قد افلح من زكاها
He has succeeded who purifies it,
وقد خاب من دساها
And he has failed who instills it [with corruption].
[Qur'ān 91:9-10]
